The larger production area of wire rod in China is the North China region. According to the data released by the State Computing Bureau, the output value of wire rods in China was 15.893 million tons in 2013. During this period, the output value of North China accounted for 51.179 million tons, accounting for 33.9% of the domestic output value. The output value of wire rods in East China and South China accounted for 27.7% and 18.8% respectively. Northeast, southwest and northwest regions account for 7.6%, 6.7% and 5.2% of China's output value.
The larger area of wire consumption in China is the East China region. According to the data of the China Steel Association, the output value of wire rods of key enterprises in January-November 2013 was 65.425 million tons, during which 24.166 million tons of wire rods flowed to East China, accounting for 36.9% of the calculated amount, and 13.023 million tons flowed to North China, accounting for 19.9% of the calculated amount. Combined with domestic output value data, East China is the net inflow area of wire rod in China, while North China is the net outflow area.

China's thin gauge plate also maintained a relatively fast growth.
Since 2005, the output value of China's hot-rolled coil has been flat down. In 2011, the lowest increase of hot-rolled coil sheet in China was only 4.6%, and the growth rate in 2013 rose to 9.7%, but it was significantly lower than that before 2011. According to the sub-standard, the output value of hot-rolled sheet is still increasing rapidly because of the increasing demand of cold-rolled sheet. After 2011, the growth rate of hot-rolled sheet is significantly higher than that of medium-thick and wide steel strip under the condition that the growth rate of hot-rolled sheet has slowed down dramatically.
Before 2005, China's hot-rolled coil has been a net importer. According to the customs calculation, China imported 5.816 million tons of hot rolled coil sheet, exported 4.04 million tons and imported 1.76 million tons net in 2005. Since 2006, with the rapid increase of domestic production capacity, hot-rolled coil sheet has turned to net export. In 2006-2008, the export volume of hot-rolled coil sheet has reached more than 10% of the annual output value, effectively alleviating the contradiction between supply and demand in the domestic market. After the outbreak of the world financial crisis, with the slowdown of the world market demand and the abolition of export tax rebates for hot rolled coil sheets in China, the export volume of hot rolled coil sheets declined in 2009. After 2010, the export of hot rolled coil sheets as a whole adhered to a higher level, which played a certain role in alleviating the contradiction between supply and demand in the domestic market.
