Thread refers to a spiral-shaped, continuous convex part with a specific section made on the surface of a cylinder or cone parent. Threads are divided into cylindrical threads and conical threads according to their parent shapes; external threads and internal threads according to their positions in the parent body; triangular threads, rectangular threads, trapezoidal threads, serrated threads and other special threads according to their sectional shapes (tooth types).
Threads are divided into triangular threads, rectangular threads, trapezoidal threads and serrated threads according to their cross-sectional shapes (tooth types). The triangular threads are mainly used for connection (see thread connection), and the rectangular, trapezoidal and serrated threads are mainly used for transmission. Triangle thread has good self locking performance for triangular thread. It is divided into two kinds of coarse teeth and thin teeth. Fine teeth have small pitch, small elevation angle and better self-locking performance. They are often used in thin-walled tubes with small parts, such as vibration or variable load connections and fine-tuning devices. Pipe thread is used for tight connection of fittings. Rectangular threads have high efficiency, but are often replaced by trapezoidal threads because they are not easy to grind and difficult to center the internal and external threads. The working edges of zigzag thread teeth are close to rectangular straight edges, and are mostly used for bearing uniaxial axial force.
Tapered threads are triangular in shape, mainly depending on the deformation of the teeth to ensure the tightness of the thread pair, often used in pipe fittings.
