In 2001, Zhang Dongwei graduated from the technical school and entered Hudong Zhonghua shipbuilding company. At this moment, the company is making every effort to build a LNG ship. LNG ship is also known as LNG ship. It carries and transports LNG at minus 163 degrees Celsius. It is internationally recognized as a high-skilled, difficult and high value-added "three-high" ship. Along with luxury cruise ships, LNG ship is known as the "pearl in the crown of shipbuilding industry".

Zhang Dongwei was frustrated but delighted to know that to become an electric welder who built LNG boats, he had to start from scratch because he could not use the skills he had learned in a technical school. Zhang Dongwei comprehends well, holding his teeth and grinding his teeth. He learns desperately and sweats more than others, so he makes progress faster and faster every day. In order to quickly grasp the LNG ship welding skills, Zhang Dongwei followed the master carefully observed, learning his every welding gesture, even the smallest details do not pass, sometimes a few hours to see. At that time, many experts in shipyards in developed countries thought that even if China had money, it would be difficult to train such special welders, and it would take a long time for China to build LNG ships. Zhang Dongwei said that this difficult welding skills, there is an image of the analogy, in the steel plate "embroidery", on the board "play with fire".

Zhang Dongwei recalled that when he was a qualified Yinwa welder with a G certificate, the knowledgeable owner of the LNG ship did not trust a hairy young man to undertake the welding burden. A shipowner's representative, who supervised the quality of welding, looked at Zhang Dongwei from head to toe with doubtful eyes. Can a technical school really be able to weld such jumbled materials?

Zhang Dongwei did not have the slightest fear, but decided to start welding. In the "sizzling" welding sound, the seam is extended. The shipowner's representative was not at ease, and asked him to stop and examine it carefully with special equipment, not trusting him to do the work so well. Then let him try welding dozens of meters. An inch of the weld is stretching, and foreign experts around him are weighing whether his skills are really deep. A few meters long weld needs to be welded for five or six hours. Any pinhole leak will cause LNG to leak from the cabin. If it is serious, it will cause shipwrecks and casualties, with a direct economic loss of at least more than 100 million yuan. Shipyards abroad can only abandon the LNG ship because they can not solve the problem of leakage. Therefore, the welding of Yinwa steel requires workers'skills to be strict, especially for the welders' patience and sense of responsibility is a great test.

A LNG vessel, with a total length of 140 kilometers, has 14 kilometers of special azimuth welds, although 90% of them are active welds. The welder's skills are required. The China LNG Construction Team in East Shanghai has previously invented a record that after completion of the welding operation in a large cabin, the third party's tightness test results in a leak of 0, even in Europe. Being a welder is not easy. Being a good welder is even more difficult. Wearing heavy work clothes and dealing with hot steel plates and smoke all day, especially in the hot summer, bare shoulders are too hot, welders have to cover the thick canvas work clothes, in the cabin of fifty or sixty degrees accompanied by more than a thousand degrees of hot metal "war heat", like squid on the iron plate, dry a batch When they are alive, clothes are often permeated with sweat and sticky on their bodies.
